Apple will still hurt themselves and lose customers, or potential customers. Even though BluRay and HD look exactly the same, and the only difference between the two is the capacity . . people are still brainwashed that Blu Ray is better looking. So to please current , and possible , customers Steve Jobs should have just gone ahead and included Blu Ray in the next OS and DVDSP update. It is a bad decisions that they’re not going to.

An iMac with EyeTV, Griffin Shark and Front Row already does pretty much all you describe. A 1TB FW800 external HD spares the internal drive a lot of the wear and tear. The Eye TV tuners also support Clear Quam HD (Cable as opposed to ATSC over the air).

A tale of two iPod battery extenders
Said:
I don’t really understand why anyone would get the Richard Solo-style battery packs for iPods/iPhones. Having the battery connected solely using the dock connector (I believe newer models have a little plastic bracket to try to work around this issue a little), winds up putting a large strain on the internal connector inside your iPod. And guess how likely you will get a warrantee replacement from Apple because your dock connector has broken because of this.
If I was given one of these, if I ever used it, I would connect it, leave the iPod/battery flat on a table until it had charged the iPod or I needed to use the iPod, then I would immediately disconnect it before doing anything with the iPod.

Apple sued over defective iMac screens

Well in this case it’s true. A person I help with things Mac has an iMac from mid-2007 which started developing vertical (coloured) lines - first several then the lines multiplied over time. I looked on Apple’s Support forum and others and found many people had the same issue with their iMacs. Apple has denied it is their problem. Took the iMac into an authorized repair place and they said only solution was replacing the display (which would cost about 600 Euros since the iMac was out of warranty by then). They hadn’t a clue as to the cause.
